Sarah Himmler – 2018 Steering Committee Member

  1. How did you get to Greenville? I’m originally from upstate NY, I had plans to attend ECU for my masters but I started working. I ended up changing my career path and I just fell in love with the area.
  2. Where is your favorite breakfast/coffee spot in Greenville? This is a loaded  question for me. Bagelman Bagels are the BEST around. As a past New Yorker, bagels are a staple in my diet. If I want something sweet, nothing better than a hot Krispy Kreme. As a web developer, coffee is 50% of my diet, so give me some coffee from anywhere and I’ll be happy!
  3. Where is your favorite lunch spot in Greenville? Sam Jones BBQ!
  4. What are your top three things to do in Greenville?
    • Working in my yard. Being in the sun is my FAVORITE.
    • Doing just about anything with my nieces/nephews. The trampoline park has been their favorite place lately, but to me nothing beats a park! I love to swing.
    • On or in the water. I have a kayak and could do that everyday and be happy!
  5. What is your favorite festival in Greenville? I don’t know if the Umbrella Market Counts but I pick that.
  6. What is your favorite park in Greenville and why? Trillium Park! It’s in the town Commons and it’s inclusive to anyone. I grew up with an uncle in a wheelchair and to see a park where he could have a place swing made my love for Greenville grow.
  7. How do you give back to Greenville? Through YP. Last year I volunteered at PirateFest and Community Tree Day because of YP, it also helps there are other people I know from the organization that volunteer together.
  8. How can Greenville be improved? This applies to more than just Greenville but, littering can be awful to our environment and it’s not a hard thing to fix, just pick up after yourself.
  9. Why did you join Young Professionals of Pitt County? My company pays for us to have memberships and I loved the networking. It pushes me out of my comfort zone a bit so I have gotten better about meeting new people and networking.
  10. What is your favorite YP event and why? I like the 3rd Thursdays the best, just being able to get to talk and catch up with people, plus there’s a professional development speaker.
